Always Say Thank You

Life certainly has its ups and downs, and we all go through difficult times.  It's so important to remember, though, that everyone goes through these rough times.  We often get so focused on our own troubles that we forget to notice that others are struggling as well.  One thing I try to do when I'm having a bad day (physically or emotionally) is to pray for someone else.  It takes my focus off my own worries, and helps me to be grateful for all my blessings, and remember that others are hurting (sometimes much worse than I am).  We ALL need the love of others.  I made this card to say THANK YOU to someone who, despite her own struggles, always takes time to pray for me (and for others).  It's important to say THANK YOU to people for the things they do.  That's one of the many things I LOVE about Really Reasonable Ribbon.  Their sweet ribbons, laces, trims, flowers and embellishments make it so easy to create a sweet card to thank someone.
I created this card using some old Making Memories patterned paper, a doily, a grungy prim tag, and several great products from Really Reasonable Ribbon including their sweet Helen White Crochet Lace, Pink Aster Seam Binding, Teal Seam Binding, Raspberry Seam Binding, Pink Burlap String, Moss Green Jumbo Leaves Trim, Cream Seam Binding, as well as some of Really Reasonable Ribbon's GORGEOUS mulberry flowers including their Open Roses in Pink and Open Roses in Baby Blue.  I also included a lovely Wild Orchid Crafts Spiral Stamen in White, and these are such lovely accents that come in several colors and add a really lovely touch to your cards.  They've been recently restocked, so now is a good time to purchase some in every brilliant color they carry.  All of Really Reasonable Ribbon's awesome products work together to help create the most lovely cards, and you will never be disappointed with your choices.

You may also notice, on the left of the card, that I decorated a Mason Jar by spray painting it and decorating it.  I added some of the lovely Helen White Crochet Lace, and a sweet bow made with Pink Aster Seam Binding and Bay Leaf Seam Binding.  Again, Really Reasonable Ribbon's many wonderful trims make it another easy project, and they look SO sweet.  You can fill them with candies, or just use them for decoration.

We'd also love to have you play along in our challenge.  Please stop by Really Reasonable Ribbon to see all the fabulous ribbons, trims, laces, flowers and more; and treat yourself to something fun.  There's sure to be something PERFECT for your next project.

Crate Paper Confetti

For those who know me and my crafting style, you're probably well aware of my deep love for Crate Paper.  The last line I fell in love with was Oh Darling, and there have been others in between as well. But Crate Paper has two newer lines that simply made me SWOON..... They are Craft Market and this one - Confetti.  They are both SO sweet; and while I was in Minnesota, I bought both of these fabulous lines.  And when I say "lines", I mean that I literally bought every piece of these fabulous new lines - from the patterned papers to the stickers, chipboard and ephemera.  GORGEOUS!  I know I will be having a lot of fun with these new goodies.
I decided to use some of these deliciously sweet products on my project for this week's challenge at Word Art Wednesday.  I decorated a gift bag with lots of the sweet little tags, flags, bits and bobbits from the line including these darling little flags and hearts.  I also added some baker's twine, a miniature clothes pin that I dipped in gold glitter, and a bow that I cut using a die-cut.  I wrapped the center of the bow with gold foil paper.  My scripture is attached to the bottom row of flags on the right bottom side of bag.
The gift bag itself is from the Kraft Outlet, as are the baker's twine and miniature clothes pin that I covered (on one side) with glue, and dipped into gold glitter.  I also added a couple pieces of vintage scotch tape from Vintage Street Market.  I was SO sad to hear that Vintage Street Market went out of business, and that you can't order this fabulous tape any more.  I guess I had better start hoarding what I have left.  LOL

I would really love to have you stop by and play along with us at Word Art Wednesday this week.  We have two AMAZING sponsors with us this week including The Kraft Outlet ($15 Gift Certificate) and All Dressed Up Stamps (2 images of choice).  We'd really love having you share your art in our Anything Goes challenges.

These are the challenges where I'm sharing my project:

Little Scrap Pieces - Show It Off Saturday Linky Party

Classy Cards 'N Such - Challenge #95 - Colors and Patterns - I used LOTS of great colors and patterns on this project including polka dots, stripes, paisley, and a wide variety of great colors.  Nothing really "goes together", but it sure is fun.  I used baker's twine and gold glitter (both of which are sold at CCNS).

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Simon Says "Anything Goes" - FUN!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a blessed week.

Using Retro Rubber

I absolutely LOVE the idea behind "Retro Rubber" Challenge Blog.  They encourage you to pull out those long-neglected (but much loved) stamps that you haven't been giving the appropriate amount of attention they deserve.  I pulled out a couple of oldies but goodies for this card.
First of all, let me just say that I absolutely ADORE this color combination.  Blue, cream and red are just SO sweet together.  I used several different October Afternoon patterned papers on this card, a Chic journalling tag, some Hero Arts gem stones, sequins, mini paper clip, May Arts ribbon, a Melissa Frances rub-on (Best Wishes), and some machine stitching.  The two stamps I used are from Hero Arts (zip zag stamp) and Hobby Lobby (Happy Birthday).

These are the challenges where I am linking my card.  As I mentioned in my other blog post today, it's my 50th Birthday today.  Guess what I get to do.  I'm going to the doctor, and then grocery shopping.  Fun, huh?  LOL  All kidding aside, I'm VERY blessed, and so happy to be sharing this day with my family.

Retro Rubber Challenge Blog - Challenge #19 - Inspire Me With Color - I absolutely LOVE this color combination.  I used two retro rubber stamps on this card.

A Blog Named Hero - I used a Hero Arts stamp (zig zag) and some Hero Arts gems on this card.  I've always loved this sweet Hero Arts stamp, and this challenge just reminded again me why I love Hero Arts SO much!

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Sparkle and Shine - I used some gems and sequins on my card

Have a good one,
Karen

It's All In The Sentiment

The favorite part of every card I make is the sentiment I choose to put on it.  I was DELIGHTED when I heard about the current challenge over at "A Blog Named Hero" for two reasons.  First, it's a blog that is all about HERO ARTS, which one of my favorite stamp companies.  And second, because the challenge they have going right now is about "Making The Sentiment The Star" of your card.  What a fabulous combination.  I got to use one of my favorite Hero Arts stamps, which is called It's A Parade.  I love this sweet little stamp so much, and I've used it over and over again.
All I did to create this card was cut a piece of patterned paper, and then cut a slightly smaller piece of vellum.  I added the sentiment, which is a My Sentiments Exactly rub-on.  Then, I added the It's A Parade stamp at the bottom.  I attached the vellum to the patterned paper by punching a hole and running baker's twine through and tying a bow.  Then, the final touch was to add some sequins and gems to give it a little sparkle.

I am linking my card in the following fun challenges, and I hope you will come play along as well.

A Blog Named Hero - I used a Hero Arts Stamp (It's A Parade) and also added some Hero Arts Gem Stones.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Simon Says "Sparkle and Shine" - I added some sequins and gem stones to give my card a little "sparkle".

City Crafter Challenge Blog - Challenge:  Hemp and Twine Will Be Fine - I used baker's twine

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today.  It's always a tremendous blessing to me when I read the sweet comments you leave.  By the way, I'm celebrating my 50th Birthday today.  Woo Hoo!  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Chip Off The Old Block

I love that saying, "you're a chip off the old block".  I hear it all the time in reference to my (taking after my Mom), in reference to my husband (taking after his Dad), and even in reference to our son (taking after his Dad).  But when you think about it, it makes perfect sense.  Why wouldn't we tend to be "a chip off the old block" since our parents have such a profound impact on our lives, and shape who we become.  I am like my Mom in many ways; some good and some not so good.  But it still makes me who I am as a person.  I will focus on the good, and keep working on the flaws.  LOL  I am definitely a work in progress.
I found these sweet Maya Road boxes on clearance at a scrapbook store in Minnesota.  In fact, it was more than just a scrapbook store.  They have a full retreat center that you can attend with friends, and stay in really nice rooms with a full kitchen, and have full access to their store.  So, if you're ever in the market for a Scrapbook Retreat, I strongly encourage you to check out the Pine City Scrapbook Center in Pine City, Minnesota.  These sweet blocks were in their clearance section, and they have little coasters inside that you can decorate.
I used lots of great Crate Paper, Oh Darling patterned papers and embellishments to decorate this block.  I thought it would be a really sweet gift to give my niece, Alexa, for her Birthday.  The top of the box flips up, so she can put it in her room and tuck little things inside.  I sure wish I could have stayed in Minnesota for her Birthday.  She's also a "chip off the old block" in that she takes after her Auntie Karen in SO many ways.  She plays the piano (like I do), she's a singer (like I am), and she has a SERIOUS sense of humor and love for ice cream, just like me!
I found a couple of challenges where this sweet little project could be shared, so I'm sharing in these challenges:

Paper Issues Challenge - New Issue:  Chip Off The Old Block - How fun to create a BLOCK project for this fun challenge.  And by the way, if you haven't ever checked out Paper Issues, you will definitely want to visit this AMAZING store and fun blog.  They offer LOTS of great inspiration, and they sell the products you need to create the fun projects they share.

Stamp & Create Challenge - Patterns - I always LOVE using patterned papers

I'm SO glad that you've stopped by today, and I thank you for the visit.  I look forward to visiting your blog as well; so if you leave me a comment, I'll be sure to stop by.

Blessings to you,
Karen

Button Cards and Vintage Sweetness

One of my favorite stamp sets (and one I often forget to use) is my Button Boutique Stamp Set from the lovely Papertrey Ink.  It's just so super sweet, and I always love the cards I make using it.  I whipped up two cards using this sweet stamps set, and I'm hoping that you all enjoy them.
This first card uses the Button Boutique Stamp Set, some Crate Paper (floral) and October Afternoon (chalkboard) patterned papers, seam binding, baker's twine, and buttons.  In the background, you will see a sweet decorated Mason Jar.  I bought dozens of antique Mason Jars for my daughter's wedding; so I will be making several crafts with them for gift-giving.
My second card uses the same Button Boutique Stamps Set, a doily,  two October Afternoon patterned papers, buttons, seam binding, baker's twine, vintage music, and machine stitching.  These cards (along with a couple dozen more) are going to my dear friend, Noni.  She helped out SO MUCH with Alicia's wedding, and I wanted to do something special for her.  She's been asking to buy some of my cards; so I decided to just send her a bunch.  These two will be tucked inside this lovely little bag I made for her:
This sweet little kraft bag is from the dollar bins at Target.  I added a doily, stamped some sentiments from the Button Boutique set, added some seam binding and trims, a doily, a wooden Kaiser Crafts dress form, a rusty hook safety pin, a thread card from October Afternoon, and a little of this and that.  Here's a close-up:
There are just so many sweet touches on here.  I love how it turned out.  As I said, I tucked in the button cards and a note thanking her for all her help.  It could never be enough for all she did to help make the day SO special.  Not to mention, she and her five daughters drove all the way to Minnesota from Tennessee JUST for the wedding.  I'm SO blessed to have such amazing friends.

I'm sharing my card in the following challenges:

Paper Issues Challenge - Chip Off The Old Block - I truly am a "chip off the old block".  In particular, I am a little piece of my dear mother.  My Dad always used that term "chip off the old block" for me in reference to my Mom.  She LOVES to sew, and by using these vintage button cards, I am also showing MY love for sewing, and that I truly am a "chip off the old block".  I also used a "BLOCK" die on the second card, in which I placed my buttons.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Simon Says "Sparkle and Shine" - I used glittery letters (SEW) on the bag that sparkle and shine!

Thanks so much for stopping by to say hello and take a peek at my cards.  I am just settling back in at home.  We pulled in last night, and I'm still unpacking boxes of wedding supplies, purchases, suitcases, etc.  I hope to feel "back to normal" soon.  Alicia and Nathan get here soon from their honeymoon, and we will be helping to move them to their new home in California this weekend.

Don't forget to stop by and play along in our Anything Goes challenge this week at Word Art Wednesday.  We have two fabulous prizes, and we would be so grateful to have you share your talents with us.  I hope to see you there!

Blessings to you,
Karen

Really Reasonable Ribbon ROCKS!

My good friend, and owner of Really Reasonable Ribbon (the greatest ribbon shop in the world), Bonnie Garby, once told me that "a card just isn't complete without a bow".  I have to say that I completely agree with her.  I just can't resist adding that special touch. This card was cute without the bow, but it's even cuter WITH it.  I used some October Afternoon patterned papers, Crate Paper chipboard and stickers, and a Verve stamped sentiment.  Like I said, it looked good.  But I knew it needed something more; and that something was a big beautiful bow using Really Reasonable Ribbon's AWESOME supplies.
I added a bow using their gorgeous Turquoise Plaid Ribbon, some Cream Seam BindingTeal Baker's TwineBlueberry Baker's Twine, some awesome 1.5" Jute Ribbon in Ivory, and a pretty Deep Ivory Open Rose by Wild Orchid Crafts.  I love the textures, and the personality all these items give to my card.  I honestly believe that Really Reasonable Ribbon ROCKS!  I highly recommend ALL their amazing products.

I invite you to stop by and check out all their amazing ribbons and trims, flowers, and accessories.  I know that you will absolutely LOVE all of their amazing products.  We also have a super fun challenge where you can play along for the chance to win some of their awesome ribbons.  We really hope that you will stop by for some shopping, some great inspiration, and lots of fun!

Let's Party....

I'm so lucky that I got a quick chance to make some cards while on my vacation.  We have a couple of family events (birthdays, etc.) for which I needed a few cards.  I thought that I was SUNK until I found out that I would get a few days to "play" with my best friend in her craft room (and all that goes with spending a few days with your best friend of almost 50 years).  I'm SO EXCITED that ice cream at Nelson's is on our agenda for tonight.  That's always a summer favorite!
I made this second card VERY late last night.  I couldn't sleep, so I decided to keep creating late into the night; and I came up with this card for a few challenges I found.  One is a sketch, and the others I was able to work in with some creativity.  Again, you've just GOT to love October Afternoon.  It makes card-making SO easy and fun.  How bright and cheerful is this simple card?

I'm entering it in a few challenges:

Sketch Saturday Challenge Blog - Challenge/Sketch #369 Sponsored by Simon Says Stamp

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog - Simon Says "Furry Friends"

Stamp and Create Challenge Blog - Patterns (I absolutely LOVE using lots of great patterned papers together).

City Crafter Challenge Blog - Challenge #270 - Woodland Animals

Craftin' Desert Divas Challenge Blog - Craft It Up, Link It Up/Birthday Linky Party - This card is just perfect for this challenge.  I would LOVE to win myself more of Craftin' Desert Diva's AMAZING stamps.  LOVE them!

Have a great week, my sweet and creative friends.

Blessed Along the Way

Well, the wedding was wonderful!  And right now, I'm enjoying a very unexpected three days at my best friend's house making cards and enjoying one another.  What a blessing to find myself having this special visit amidst the hectic schedule we've had since we arrived in Minnesota.  I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with gratitude toward my precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for allowing me to enjoy such a wonderful journey during this special time in our lives.  I really needed this break from everything, and needed to take some time to listen; and glean wisdom from my precious friend.  I've been refueled, and I will remember and treasure these days forever.  How blessed I am to have a true Proverbs 17:17 friend for now over 46 years.  God is so very good to me, and my cup truly runs over with gratitude.  I encourage you to take time to praise His name today.  He is SO good, and we are SO blessed.  Amen?  Here is one picture of our precious girl that was taken just after the ceremony, outside the church.  She was smiling from ear to ear ALL day!
I created this first card with some sweet October Afternoon patterned papers, journal and letter stickers (be), and chipboard; as well as a small white doily, some machine stitching, and a Papertrey Ink word die-cut (happy).  I have always been such a big fan of October Afternoon, and I always enjoy playing with their bright, fun colors and embellishments.  Papers from various OA lines seem to often match one another so nicely, and being able to combine them really helped me to create this card.  I am always about ease in crafting.

Really Reasonable Ribbon July Blog Hop

It's that awesome time of the month again when Really Reasonable Ribbon has their super fun Blog Hop.  You should have arrived here from the fabulous Bonnie Garby's Blog; but if you didn't, you can always get stated at the RRR Blog.  This month's Ribbon Club has some really fun black and white ribbons that are SUPER on-trend right now.  I used several ribbons and trims from this month's sweet collection to create a pretty little bow for my card.
As I mentioned above, I used several of the ribbons from the July Ribbon Club Assortment in my bow; as well as a small piece of Micro Black Gingham Ribbon and a snippet of Maddison Natural Crochet Lace stapled to my stamped sentiment, and several lengths of Black Licorice Baker's Twine that I wrapped around the card, and added into my bow.  Really Reasonable Ribbon carries twenty-six lovely colors of Baker's Twine at a great price, and twine is the perfect accent for EVERY project (incorporated in one way or another).  Check out all the lovely twines and trims here - in the Really Reasonable Ribbon store.

Your next stop on this Blog Hop is at the talented Teresa's Blog, and I am sure that she has created something SUPER sweet to share with you.  At the end of the hop, don't forget to answer the question on the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog so you'll be eligible for the Blog Hop Prize.  We're SO grateful to have you join us!

Happy Blog Hopping,

Use Your Stash With RRR

One color that I don't use often, or even wear much for that matter, is ORANGE.  I'm sure that you all, just like me, have patterned papers in your stash that need to be used up.  I decided to start using some of those older, neglected items.  Really Reasonable Ribbon has the perfect ribbons, trims and embellishments to help you use up those items you've been meaning to use.  I ordered some Really Reasonable Ribbon's beautiful ORANGE ribbons, trims and flowers to create these two cards.
Both cards are quite similar.  I alternated two OLD Making Memories patterned papers that had orange polka dots on them, and machine stitched them together.  Next, I stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment (from Verve) on them and die-cut the sentiment spot.  Then.....the fun part - the ribbons!  I used some lovely items from Really Reasonable Ribbon including their gorgeous (and super "on-trend" )3/4" Orange Chevron Striped Twill, Melissa Natural Crochet Lace, Cream Seam Binding and then adorned it with Deep Ivory Open Roses and Orange Open Roses.  I also added a tiny little tag (party time) with a pearl stick pin and a sequin.
My second card includes all the same ribbons as mentioned above, but also includes Dusty Olive Seam Binding and Antique Gold Burlap String as well as a 30 mm Wild Orchid Crafts Mulberry Paper Green Leaf.  It's SO fun using coordinating ribbons and trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon to help me use up all the neglected items in my stash.  I encourage you to place an order at Really Reasonable Ribbon today for some ribbons and embellishments to help you use up of those forgotten colors in YOUR stash.
Thanks for stopping by, and don't forget to link up in our current challenge.

CropStop Bag of Biscotti

One great thing about CropStop is that they carry a little bit of EVERYTHING!  From inks and paints to wall hangings and more; you can find SO many great products for your all your crafting projects.  Today, I'm working with one of their adorable Burlap Bags With Drawstring that I filled with biscotti for my daughter's bridal shower.
These wonderful Burlap Bags are 10" x 14" which is quite good size, so you can fit A LOT inside.  I added some vintage lace around the bag, both at the middle as well as at the top just to give it a vintage feel.  Next, I added some of the lovely Petaloo Sugared Flowers.  To be specific, I used the Petaloo Flowers in Emerald Green.  Aren't they lovely?  I wish I owned EVERY gorgeous color they carry.  They make my projects look so nice.
I also tied several bows using the wonderful May Arts Natural Burlap String.  This lovely burlap string comes in several colors, and adds a nice touch to any project.  Finally, as you can see, I stuffed the bag FULL of chocolate biscotti.  Her bridal shower had a "Coffee Bar" theme, so these went really nicely with that motif.  CropStop carries LOTS of great products that helped me create special touches for the wedding as well.
By the way, the biscotti was YUMMY and the shower was a great success.  She got lots of nice things for her new home, and for her honeymoon (if you catch my drift).  She' is SO excited, and I can hardly wait to see her new home all decorated the way she wants it.  God provided a job for her (soon-to-be) husband teaching at the Bible College they attended in California, so they will be about 4-5 hours away, which isn't too bad in my opinion.

Why not grab some of these great Burlap Bags and give this a try for yourself?  You will just LOVE them, as well as ALL the great products carried at CropStop.  AND.....you can play along in the super fun challenge taking place now on the CropStop Blog.  We would LOVE to have you play along.

Have a blessed week,
Karen

CropStop Pocket Card Tutorial

As many of you know, I absolutely LOVE making Pocket Cards. So today, I've shared a quick tutorial on how to make them over on the CropStop Blog.  It's easy and fun, and allows you to create something a bit more than a card, but is still super cost effective and a real treat for its recipient.  The other great thing about Pocket Cards is that they provide you with a cute little pocket for tucking in a gift card, cash, photos, or a sweet note for the special person for whom it is intended.  I just LOVE them.  You can see the step-by-step instructions over on the CropStop Blog. I used some more great CropStop supplies on my pocket, including a bundle of Petaloo Sugared Berries in Pine Green, which I absolutely LOVE in every gorgeous color CropStop carries! I also added a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Mini Paper Clip.   You'll also see that I tucked in a Manilla Shipping Tag that's tied with May Arts Natural Burlap String, and there's a little tag attached to it that's held with a sweet little Tea Stained Clothes Pin.  The tiny tag is stamped in Tim Holtz Inks - both Bundled Sage and Soot Black
You can also tuck some candy or a journalling tag inside the pocket.  The options for decorating and tucking things inside your Pocket Cards are endless.  This really is a SUPER EASY project that you can do, and CropStop has everything you need to create a cute Pocket Card of your own.  I hope you will stop by CropStop today to check out all the great products they offer.

And, don't forget to stop by and play along in our current challenge.  We LOVE having you join us, and you could be this month's lucky winner of some CropStop goodies!  Have fun creating your Pocket Cards, too. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.

Blessings,
Karen

Blessings,
Karen
